Madonna University Hostels Are 'Death Traps' - Students Cry Out (Photos)

Life in Madonna University Nigeria is a life in the jungle. The internally displaced people in the Northeast may be living a higher standard of life than the students of Madonna University.

The environment of Madonna University particularly the hostels are far worse than a bokoharam camp. The attention of the management has been drawn to the poor living conditions of the students, but Fr. Edeh and his clueless cabal have no interest in improving the living situation of the students.

He collects huge amounts of money as school fees running into millions just to gather firm for himself. He derives joy in building big churches and gathering Bishops and white people who go to Elele to sing praises to the name of Fr. Edeh. After singing his praises, he pays them in millions. Those Bishops who are guilty of this fact, cannot deny it.

If Fr. Edeh is your friend and you are a Bishop for God and for humanity, tell your friend the truth.

In most cases he deceives the white people and makes them believe that the students are poor orphans and less privileged he is catering for. Many opinions leaders believe that he collects millions of dollars on accounts of this very deceit from the western world.

The Nigerian Government and NUC are therefore called upon to come to the rescue of Madonna University students. "Our hostels are Death Traps", students cry. Three hostels in Okija Campus (St Thomas, OSH and St Peters) are at the verge of collapsing.

NUC should stop collecting bribes from Fr. Edeh and do their job in the interest of young Nigerians who are living like animals in the name of being students of a private University.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria should stop singing the praises Fr. Edeh and ask him to stop being hypocritical and do the right thing instead of always cutting corners and bribing people men in authority.

NUC should ask him to reduce the number of mentally deranged people who are working in the University especially this current newly recruited uneducated boys from Osisatech polytechnic. We have never seen where OND holders are made managers of a University except in Madonna.

The sisters, Ogechi, Chika and Onyee, are expecting mothers and decided to document the wonderful journey of them planning to become mothers at the same time. They are reportedly expecting 4 babies.

University Professors Earns More Than My Monthly Salary.. Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has said that professors in Nigerian universities earn as much as he does, and that, in some cases, they earn more than him on a monthly basis, Punch Metro reports.

Fayemi said that as a governor, he earns N500,000 monthly salary, arguing that a professor sometimes earns more than that.

He also berated Nigerian academic for allegedly not taking advantage of certain opportunities which, he said, he was privy to.

The governor added that it was unnecessary for the Academic Staff Union of Universities to have embarked on its ongoing strike action.

Fayemi spoke with journalists on Monday in Paris at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s interactive session with Nigerians living in France, reports The Nation.

He said that ASUU and Nigerian tertiary institutions had benefited more under Buhari’s administration than at other times.

He said, “If you talk about tertiary education, ASUU is on strike; but you ask yourself, ‘Why is ASUU on strike?’

“ASUU claimed that it is on strike because it wants improvement in the fortunes of education in Nigeria and that government has not lived up to expectations.

“I make bold to say that no government has done as much as this government has done — not just for ASUU, but also for tertiary education in our country.

“Is it enough? Absolutely, it’s not going to be enough. We have to keep doing more.

“But, ask yourself, ‘What was the average wage in the university system before?’

“A university professor earns more than me as a governor. My salary as a governor is N500,000. Most university professors earn about the same amount, if not more.

“Yes, you may argue that there are other opportunities available, there are also other opportunities that are available that are not being taken advantage of by our academics.

“I can say a little bit about this because this is my terrain.

“I do not think that ASUU, on its own strength, can argue that government has not done well.

“There is hardly any institution in Nigeria today, including state universities, that has not had the benefit of the Federal Government intervention.

“It is either the government is building an auditorium or rehabilitating a laboratory or improving on students’ hostels in virtually all the universities as I speak to you.

“That’s what TETFUND does via their intervention funds.

“That, again, is not the complete solution,” he said

man who killed his father to die by hanging

A Jos Court of Appeal (COA) on Tuesday sentenced a middle-aged man, Jibril Idrisa, to death by hanging for killing his aged father over N56,000.00 being proceeds from the sale of Guinea Corn.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Habib Abima, overturned the judgment of the lower court that acquitted Idrisa.

“The court sets aside the judgment delivered by the lower Court discharging and acquitting Jibril Idris.

“He is found guilty of the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death contrary to section 211 of the penal code law of Bauchi State.

“The court hereby sentences him (Jibril Idris) to death by hanging,’’ Abima ordered.

The appellate court held that the lower court erred in its judgment.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that family members of the deceased, through their counsel, Mr Ishaq Magaji, prayed the appellate court to set aside the Jan. 26, judgment of Justice M.A. Sambo of the state High Court, Bauchi.

Magaji said that convict agreed that he killed his father and buried him in a shallow grave beside a river in Tafawa Balewa, after an argument over the proceeds from the sale of some bags of Guinea Corn.
